SO MUCH great new music has hit our ears this week that we can’t just choose one track for our Midweek Music. Instead, we give you three. Don’t say we don’t spoil you!
Mykki Blanco – “Kingpinning”
Mykki Blanco is an interesting figure. Having started out as a performer and poet, Michael David Quattlebaum Jr introduced his female side with Mykki Blanco. In “Kingpinning” the multigendered artist is joined by queer rapper (and Climax Favourite) Le1f and friends in a video that really isn’t suitable for minors – so put the kids to bed before you watch. And close the door – with this slick, sick beat you’ll be sure to pump it up.
Sky Ferreira – “Everything Is Embarrassing” (Unicorn Kid Remix)
Sky Ferreira’s “Everything Is Embarrassing” has been out in the U.S. ever since last year and it won over many of our hearts already then but it’s only on 25 March of 2013 that it actually gets its official release here in the UK. And it has been given an exciting revamp too thanks to Scottish producer Unicorn Kid skipping verses and looping “let me be your lover” over some pretty cray sound effects as well as an irresistable dance beat.
Heather Peace – “Fight For” (Jack Guy Remix)
Queen of all Lesbians (oh come on, just ask the readers of DIVA), Heather Peace follows up her hit “Better Than You” from the Fairytales album with “Fight For”. This Jack Guy remix brings a bit of extra life to what we otherwise find is a rather (dare we say dull) nice tune. The video is cute and full of people Lip Service fans may recognise. Get namedropping!
